BoysTown Christmas Appeal
A message from Brother Brian
All of us have a part in a wonderful story, as told by the Cherokee Elders: "A fight is going on inside of us. It is a terrible fight between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies and false pride."
He leads a life of destruction and death.
"The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
A life of hopeful promise.
"Which wolf will win?"
Daily, our staff experience the battle of the wolves, within their own lives, but much more dominantly in the lives of the young people they work with. Young people who see very little hope, as they struggle constantly with their anger; to satisfy their needs; to overcome their deep sense of inferiority; to live honestly and respectfully; as they daily face the raging battle within. And which wolf will win?
In the words of the Elders, "The one we feed!"
You may not be aware of how highly your support is valued or of the many times you have so generously helped our young people feed the "good wolf".
Your goodness, empathy and generosity enable our staff to help young people. It is you who offers them better opportunities; you who enables them to enjoy the benefits of experiencing the good things that will become a permanent part of their life's journey. For all our young people, we ask you to continue your generosity, and we say thank you.
God Bless,
