Q. Is BoysTown only for boys?
A. No. While BoysTown began as a residential care facility for boys, today we offer varied counselling, employment, education and training, youth work, social development and life skills services to young people.
Q. Who can use BoysTown services?
A. Our services are for available for children, young people and their families across Australia.
Q. Where are BoysTown offices located?
A. Our head office is located in Brisbane with service centres in Kingston, Inala, Ipswich, Capalaba, Deception Bay in Queensland, Campbelltown and Blacktown in New South Wales and Adelaide and Port Pirie in South Australia.
Q. Do I need a referral to access BoysTown services?
A. No everyone is welcome at BoysTown.
Q. How is BoysTown funded?
A. BoysTown’s primary source of income comes from our Luxury Home and Car lotteries.
Additional funds are derived through donations, corporate partnerships, fundraising activities, trusts and various State and Federal Government funded projects.
Q. Is Kids Helpline a service of BoysTown?
A. Yes. BoysTown established Kids Helpline in 1991.
Q. Can I send my son to live at BoysTown for a while?
A. BoysTown’s residential service and school ceased at Beaudesert in 2001 due to changes in social policy and a trend to move away from residential care.
Q. Who can provide me with respite from my teenager?
A. Check with your local council for your community agencies directory or, call your nearest Department of Communities office.
Q. I believe BoysTown is a Catholic organisation. What if you need help and you're not Catholic or religious?
A. Our services are non-denominational and are available to anyone in need.
