Mentor-One

Mentor-One (M1) is a youth mentoring program run by BoysTown and funded by the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The program has been developed in association with local governments, community organisations, the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE and Education Queensland.

Youth mentoring is designed to help young people view school, training and work as relevant, worthwhile, positive and fulfilling. Using a structured program for developing the one-on-one mentoring relationships, both the skills of the young person and the mentor are enhanced.

Mentors are carefully screened and assessed for their suitability to work with children. They receive specialist mentor training and are supported by BoysTown's M1 team.

There is a proverb that says 'It takes a village to raise a child'. Mentor-One (M1) seeks to make a difference in the lives of young people by bringing the community together.
