What Is Mentoring?
Mentoring is where a young person and an adult spend time together to develop a positive working relationship.
Young people want to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams but often struggle with school, training and getting into work. Mentoring is a way in which the positive experiences and wisdom of others can help young people reach their goals.
Mentors and the young people they assist (called mentees) meet on a regular basis, usually for about two hours per week.
Research shows that the longer a mentoring relationship lasts, the more positive the outcomes. Many of the most successful people in the world attribute much of their success to having a caring, supportive and knowledgeable mentor.
Mentoring is something that can make a difference for life.
