Seven young people recently graduated from BoysTown's Warehousing Works program making them employment-ready for the warehousing industry.
The Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations John Mickel presented the awards to the young people and praised the program for its ability to provide young people with employment.
"BoysTown have a motto of fresh start and new hope and that is what I care about" he said.
"Thanks for helping these guys get a better start in life.
"We need to help people in good times, give them the best skills we can because that is what a great society does."
As part of the 16-week program participants worked in the Foodbank, St Vincent De Paul and Salvation Army warehouses across Brisbane learning skills including packing, sorting and forklift driving.
BoysTown's Ann Chandra said the program was providing skilled workers for an industry with much need for their skills.
"In a couple of weeks most will have obtained their fork lift drivers licence and they are set to be in full-time work."
Greg Wilson from Browns Plains was one of the graduates looking forward to joining the workforce.
"BoysTown have really helped me out a lot and I am looking forward to getting my fork lift licence and then I will get work."
